All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This agreement outlines important terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations for the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement prevails.
Eligibility Criteria
Rental Vehicle Requirements
- To hire a vehicle in Pontefract, drivers must be at least 21 years old, though this may vary based on vehicle category, with extra fees applicable for those under 25. A valid full driving license for the appropriate vehicle class is required, along with identification and proof of residence. Payment details and a security deposit must also be provided. Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be arranged via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Pontefract office. A deposit might be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and a security deposit are generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include applicable VAT. Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off

You remain liable for damages or loss up to the excess amount unless additional coverage is purchased. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will be your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on your booking type and the notice period provided. For detailed information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- The vehicle may not be used for illegal activities, including racing or off-road driving. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Use the vehicle only for its intended purpose, and do not exceed passenger or weight limits. Driving outside the agreed geographical area requires prior permission.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Pontefract will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the amount you paid for the rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or for fraud.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts in this region.
